What 10, 25 and 50 HighLevel Referrals Are Worth: Recurring Commission Math

Plan-by-plan math for 10, 25 and 50 HighLevel referrals over 12 months, with churn, second-tier income and the assumptions stated.

"Earn 40% recurring" sounds great, but it doesn't tell you what a year of referrals is actually worth. Is 10 referrals pocket money or a car payment? Does 50 replace a salary?

This post runs the numbers plan by plan for 10, 25 and 50 referrals over 12 months. It also shows what cancellations do to those numbers, what second-tier income adds and why a referral on an agency plan is worth far more than a Starter one. Every figure is calculated from HighLevel's published prices and the affiliate agreement, with the assumptions stated.

TLDR

  • At 40%, each monthly referral pays $38.80 (Starter), $118.80 (Unlimited) or $198.80 (Agency Pro) every month it stays active.
  • Ten Unlimited referrals that stay all year pay $14,256 in 12 months. Fifty pay $71,280.
  • Cancellations matter a lot. With 5% of customers cancelling each month, the same 50 Unlimited referrals pay about $54,605 in year one, and about 28 are still paying at the end.
  • Second tier adds 5% on sales by affiliates you recruit.
  • One Agency Pro referral is worth about five Starter referrals, so who you attract matters more than how many.

The Rules Behind the Math

All the numbers below rest on these terms. Prices come from HighLevel's pricing page and the commission rules from the affiliate agreement (last updated April 2023).

  • Plan prices: Starter $97 a month, Unlimited $297 and Agency Pro $497. Annual plans are $970, $2,970 and $4,970.
  • Commission: 40% on each of those plans and on the White Label Mobile App upgrade.
  • Good standing: a commission is only earned once the account has stayed in good status for at least 45 days after the sale.
  • Payouts: on the 15th of each month, once your combined balance reaches $50. Balances under $50 for a 120-day period are forfeited.
  • Refunds: a refunded or charged-back sale is deducted from future payouts.

The agreement also says rates "may change from time to time," so check your affiliate dashboard for the current terms. Our post on when HighLevel affiliate payouts actually arrive covers the timing in detail.

The Math Per Plan: $97, $297 and $497 at 40%

Here's the simple version: every referral stays active for the full 12 months.

ReferralsStarter ($38.80/mo each)Unlimited ($118.80/mo each)Agency Pro ($198.80/mo each)
10$388/mo · $4,656/yr$1,188/mo · $14,256/yr$1,988/mo · $23,856/yr
25$970/mo · $11,640/yr$2,970/mo · $35,640/yr$4,970/mo · $59,640/yr
50$1,940/mo · $23,280/yr$5,940/mo · $71,280/yr$9,940/mo · $119,280/yr

Annual plans pay differently: 40% of one yearly payment, so $388, $1,188 or $1,988 per referral, paid once a year instead of monthly.

A realistic mix looks more like this: of 50 referrals, 30 on Starter, 15 on Unlimited and 5 on Agency Pro. That pays $3,940 a month, or $47,280 over 12 months if nobody cancels.

One important simplification: these tables assume every referral signs up on day one. In real life referrals arrive over months, so your first-year total will be lower. The upside is that they keep paying into year two.

What Happens With Churn

Customers cancel. Some agencies outgrow their needs, some close and some never set the platform up properly. We don't have a published HighLevel churn rate to quote, so here are two illustrative assumptions: 5% and 10% of active referrals cancelling each month.

50 referrals, 12 monthsStarterUnlimitedAgency ProStill paying in month 12
No cancellations$23,280$71,280$119,28050
5% cancel each month$17,834$54,605$91,376about 28
10% cancel each month$13,921$42,624$71,327about 16

Two things stand out. First, even a 5% monthly cancellation rate cuts year-one income by about a quarter. Second, the bigger loss is in year two: at 10% a month, fewer than a third of your referrals are still paying after a year.

That's why the affiliates who earn steadily don't just send clicks. They help referrals succeed after signup, with tutorials, templates and a place to ask questions. A referral who gets a quick win in the first month is much less likely to cancel.

Adding Second-Tier Income on Top

HighLevel's agreement includes a second tier: 5% on sales made by affiliates you recruit through your recruitment link. Our guide to HighLevel's two-tier commissions explains how the link works.

An example: you recruit 5 affiliates and each one refers 10 Unlimited customers. That's 50 accounts at $297, and 5% of that is $742.50 a month, or $8,910 a year if they all stay active.

It's a nice extra, but notice the scale. Those 50 accounts pay your recruits $5,940 a month and you $742.50. Second-tier income works best as a bonus on top of your own referrals, not instead of them. The agreement doesn't say how long second-tier commissions last, so confirm that with your affiliate manager.

Why Agency-Plan Referrals Are Worth More Than They Look

An Unlimited referral pays about 3 times a Starter referral, and an Agency Pro referral about 5 times. Ten Agency Pro referrals ($1,988 a month) out-earn 50 Starter referrals ($1,940 a month).

There's also a staying-power argument. A Starter user may be testing one funnel. An agency on Unlimited or Agency Pro is often running client accounts, white-label branding or SaaS Mode on the platform. Leaving would mean moving every client, so these accounts have more reasons to stay. We can't put a number on that difference, but it's worth keeping in mind when you choose who to target.

Our HighLevel pricing guide explains what each plan includes, which helps you point readers to the plan that actually fits them.

What It Takes to Get Those Referrals

Fifty paying referrals don't come from one viral post. They come from showing up in the same places, consistently, for the people who need the platform.

  • Content: practical guides that solve one problem for one kind of business. Search traffic from a guide like "missed-call text-back for dentists" brings readers who already have the problem HighLevel solves.
  • Community: answer questions where agency owners already hang out, and link only when it helps. Our r/highlevelaffiliates community is one place to start.
  • Email: a small list you write to every week, with a mix of useful how-tos, the 30-day trial and HighLevel's super promos when they run. Our post on planning around HighLevel promos has a simple monthly calendar.
  • Onboarding help: a welcome email, a setup checklist or a snapshot for new referrals. This is what keeps the churn numbers above closer to 5% than 10%.

Our HighLevel affiliate program guide covers the full setup, and the 40% recurring commission, explained honestly covers what the headline rate leaves out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does one HighLevel referral pay?

At 40%, a monthly referral pays $38.80 a month on Starter, $118.80 on Unlimited and $198.80 on Agency Pro, for as long as the account stays active and in good standing.

How much are 10 HighLevel referrals worth in a year?

If all 10 sign up at the start and stay all year: $4,656 on Starter, $14,256 on Unlimited or $23,856 on Agency Pro. Cancellations and later signup dates bring that down.

Is the HighLevel commission paid for life?

HighLevel's affiliate page says "40% recurring commissions," and the affiliate agreement doesn't set an end date for a customer's commissions. It also says rates can change, so check your dashboard and ask your affiliate manager for the current terms.

When do HighLevel affiliates get paid?

On the 15th of each month, once the referred account has been in good standing for at least 45 days and your combined balance is at least $50.

How much is the HighLevel second-tier commission?

5% on sales made by affiliates you recruit through your recruitment link, per section 3 of the affiliate agreement.

Does churn really matter that much?

Yes. In our example, 5% of referrals cancelling each month cuts year-one income by about a quarter and leaves about 28 of 50 referrals paying after 12 months. Helping referrals get set up is one of the best ways to protect your income.
